Unlike courses where content is primarily delivered through lecturing during class time, courses based on active learning and flipped course design rely heavily on student involvement and application of content during class time. It’s nearly impossible for students to “get by” without doing the work to prepare for an active learning experience. But, if your students aren’t prepared, then it defeats the whole purpose of the learner-centered environment.
