Professional development for faculty and graduate students.

barbi-iconSpeaking & Workshops

When we work together, you’ll see that I “practice what I teach.” I FLIP it!

In-Person Workshops, Keynotes, and Courses:

I’m definitely not a “stand on the stage behind the podium” type of speaker. My workshops are interactive, “hands-on,” and practical. I move around the room, talk with participants, share strategies, and put the participants to work!

All of my workshops are grounded in theory, informed by research, and designed for practical application. You will leave with specific strategies they can apply immediately to their classroom.

Contact me to discuss your event and let’s see what we can do!

Dr. Honeycutt facilitated the workshop ‘Flip It! Designing, Teaching, and Assessing in a Flipped Classroom’ to introduce my faculty to the powerful ‘flip’ pedagogy.

Originally planned for 35 participants, we had more than 60 (part-time, full-time, and administrators) attending the workshop. Without a doubt one of the most successful academic workshops that we have organized.

The evaluations of the workshop, and Dr. Honeycutt were stellar, not only because of her knowledge, but also because of her engaging style, and the variety of hands-on activities, including preparing flipped lesson plans.

I look forward to have Dr. Honeycutt facilitate another workshop for us!

barbi-iconConsulting & Scholarship

I provide consulting services leaders who work in teaching centers, faculty development units, and professional development programs. Recent example consulting projects include:

  • Provided resources and support for a graduate school to create a teaching certificate program for graduate students and postdocs.
  • Conducted a survey of non-tenure, adjunct, and part-time faculty across six institutions in the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges consortium. From the results of this study, we developed a professional development series bringing together faculty from across the institutions to engage in conversations about teaching and learning.
  • Developed a 3-year comprehensive faculty development program for a brand new college which included workshops, individual coaching sessions, classroom observations, and faculty research projects.
  • Supported a team of teaching center staff in developing a week-long summer teaching institute for faculty.
  • Developed a plan for a full-course redesign for a continuing education certification program.

If you and your team are in the process of developing a new program, or if you want to re-design an existing one, contact me and let’s see how we can work together.
