Enrollment has ended for the summer 2023 cohort.
Hope you can join us next time!

Many of us who teach college courses weren't taught how to teach.
So, we stick to the lecture.
It's familiar. It's predictable. And sometimes it works.
Until it doesn't.
Maybe you notice students are distracted and disconnected.
Maybe they aren't coming to class prepared or participating in the activities you have planned.
You're getting frustrated. You spend so much time planning your lecture, designing your slides, and creating assignments, but it's just not working.
You know you need to do something different. So you try a couple of new teaching strategies here and there.
Some work, some don't.
It all just feels so haphazard and disconnected.
There's a better way!
Learning how to teach effectively is an ongoing journey. And sometimes it can feel like you're alone.
Teaching takes place in front of our students, not our colleagues, and it can make you feel like you're the only one struggling.
That's why it's helpful to have a community of like-minded colleagues to support you along the way.
With the Lecture Breakers Academy, you get the resources, inspiration, and support you need to "break up" long lectures and successfully integrate active learning experiences into your courses so you can increase student engagement and improve learning.

The Lecture Breakers Academy is an innovative approach to faculty development that combines the power of a supportive community, the trust of a program informed by research, and the flexibility of mobile learning which makes it easy to learn anytime, anywhere.
The Lecture Breakers Academy is designed for busy educators.
The program includes:
Choice & flexibility. As you complete the modules, you may decide you want to learn more. You can go watch a 20-minute webinar, start a discussion in our community, listen to a podcast episode, and/or attend a Q&A session. You decide what, when, and how you want to learn.
Small lessons. You get access to Your Teaching Coach, an innovative app-based microlearning program designed for college professors and instructors. You can complete a microlesson in just 2-3 minutes! Then take these new ideas and apply them to your courses to increase student engagement and improve learning.
Supportive, private community. Connect with other educators, learn from guest experts, and get support from colleagues within and beyond your campus.

Try a microlesson! Click "continue" on the phone to get started.

Hi, I'm Barbi!
Before I launched my business back in 2011, I was an adjunct professor and taught undergraduate and graduate courses. I also served in every position (from intern to director!) in a teaching center at a large research university.
Now, as a speaker, consultant, and author, I have traveled throughout the U.S. working with educators from every type of college and university.
In all of these experiences, I realize how important it is for you to have access to effective and engaging professional development experiences that work with your busy schedule.
That's why I created the Lecture Breakers Academy! I developed this innovative program to support educators at all levels and from all types of institutions. I want to give you a supportive place to connect, learn, and be recognized for your dedication to teaching.
For 21 years, I have advocated for the importance of professional development in teaching at the college level. Bringing people together to talk about teaching is the work that I love to do!
I'm so glad you're here and I look forward to working with you!
